COVID-19

As the seriousness of COVID-19 grows, Cheslatta Carrier Nation is taking action to support our members on and off reserve, and to help ensure that everyone stays safe and protected.

  • Leadership encourages our members to stay home and
stock up on basic needs, limit travel, and avoid gathering places

  • Visits from anyone outside of the community are discouraged in
order to help protect our elders and those more susceptible to the virus

  • All meetings and workshops have been postponed

  • The Learning Centre has been closed until further notice

  • Food Hampers have been distributed to our elders

  • Extra cleaning supplies have been ordered and
should be received soon to distribute

  • Supplies for new moms on reserve have been ordered including
diapers, wipes, milk, etc. and should be received soon to distribute

  • Social Assistance was distributed a week early on Friday, March 20

  • All Cheslatta members over 19 years of age received an additional
$200 to help during these difficult times. Cheques were distributed starting Friday, March 20

Our office is now closed to the public. Home visits will be suspended unless there is an emergency. We ask everyone to respect each other’s space and minimize contact. We encourage everyone to follow the recommended preventative measures of social distancing and hand washing. Stay home if you are sick. Help to protect our elders and those with weak immune systems or underlying medical conditions. Make efforts to check in with family, loved ones, and elders while practicing social distancing.

Thank you for your help in ensuring that our community stays safe.
